Small Business Website Egypt: Guide for Service Owners

A small business website in Egypt does not need to be big or expensive. For a service business, it is one fast mobile page that shows what you do, your starting prices, the areas you cover, real reviews and a WhatsApp button, connected to a Google Business Profile. If customers already ask "do you have a link?" before they call, you need one.

TL;DR. A Facebook page rents you an audience; a website gives you an address you own. For an electrician, cleaning team, clinic, tutor, beauty studio or consultant, the minimum good site has eight parts: services, prices or "starting from", areas served, a WhatsApp/call button, reviews, a request form, a Google Business Profile link and your own web address. You can get there four ways: a Facebook page only, a freelancer, a do-it-yourself builder, or a ready service-page platform. Pick by who will update it every month, not by the launch price.

Why a Facebook page and WhatsApp stop being enough

Most small service businesses in Egypt start the same way. A Facebook page, a WhatsApp number on a sticker, and word of mouth. That works for the first year. Then three problems show up.

First, customers search before they message. DataReportal's Digital 2026 Egypt report counts 98.2 million internet users in Egypt at the end of 2025, an online penetration of 82.7 percent. The same report counts 51.6 million active social media user identities in October 2025, about 43.4 percent of the population. Read those two numbers together: a large group of people who are online are not reachable through social media at all, but they can still type "electrician Nasr City" into Google.

Second, your information is scattered. Prices live in old WhatsApp replies, the service list is in a pinned post, and reviews are buried in comments. A customer comparing three providers will not dig. They pick the one that answered their questions on one screen.

Third, you do not own the channel. A page's reach, its layout and even the account itself sit under someone else's rules. A website on your own address stays where you put it.

When it is time: you get the same five questions every day (price, area, timing, guarantee, how to book); customers ask for "a link" to send to family; you want to run ads and need somewhere better than a chat to send people; or you are losing jobs to competitors who simply look more organised.

What a small business website must contain

A small business website for a service provider does not need ten pages. It needs one page that answers a buyer's questions in the order they ask them.

  1. A one-line promise. "AC installation and maintenance in New Cairo and Madinaty", not "Welcome to our website".
  2. Services with prices or "starting from". Even a range removes the most common first message. Our services pricing guide for Egypt shows how to set a floor price without trapping yourself.
  3. Areas served. List neighbourhoods or cities by name. People search by area.
  4. A WhatsApp and a call button that stay visible on mobile.
  5. Reviews. Three short, real reviews with a first name and the service done beat twenty generic stars.
  6. A request or booking form. Name, phone, service, area, preferred time. It catches the customer who does not want to chat yet.
  7. Proof of work. Before/after photos, a certificate, a clinic photo, years of experience. Only what is true.
  8. Your Google Business Profile link and, later, your own domain.

A useful test: hand your phone to a relative, open the page, and ask them to find the price, the area and the booking button in under ten seconds.

How to get found locally on Google

A website alone is not a ranking. Local search runs on two connected assets: your small business website and your Google Business Profile.

Google's own local ranking guidance names three factors: relevance, distance and prominence. Prominence includes links and reviews, and Google says more reviews and positive ratings can help local ranking. It also states there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. In practice that means:

  • Complete the profile. Category, hours, phone, photos and your website link.
  • Use service areas if you go to the customer. Google's service-area business rules say to remove your address if you do not serve customers there, and to set areas by city or postal code. You can add up to 20 areas, and they should be within about two hours' drive of your base.
  • Ask every happy customer for a review, and answer every review, good or bad.
  • Match words. If customers say "سباك" or "plumber in Maadi", those words belong on your page.

Google's SEO starter guide adds the on-page basics: a clear, unique title, descriptive page addresses, helpful content written in the words people actually search, and descriptive alt text on images. It also warns that some changes take hours and others take months, so judge results after a few weeks.

Cost and time: the four options compared

There is no honest single price for a small business website in Egypt. What you pay depends on who builds it, who owns the domain and who updates it next month. Use this table to compare the shape of each option, then get written quotes.

Option Upfront cost Ongoing cost Time to launch Who controls it Best for
Facebook page + WhatsApp only Free to start Ads, if you run them Same day The platform Testing demand in your first months
Freelancer-built site One-time project fee; quotes vary widely Domain, hosting and paid edits Usually weeks You, if the domain and hosting are in your name Businesses with a clear brief and a budget
Do-it-yourself website builder Low Monthly or yearly plan Days to weeks of your own time You Owners who enjoy design and will maintain it
Ready service-page platform Low; plan-based Monthly or yearly plan Often the same day, once your content is ready You manage the content; the platform runs the tech Service providers who want bookings, not a design project

Two questions matter more than the launch price. Is the domain registered in your name? And who changes a price on a Friday night? If the answer is "the freelancer, when he replies", the cheap option becomes expensive.

Step-by-step launch checklist

  1. Write your service list with a starting price for each. Keep it to the services you want more of.
  2. Name your areas. Maximum ten to start; you can add more later.
  3. Collect three real reviews from recent customers, with permission to publish their first name.
  4. Take six photos with good daylight: you, your team or tools, and finished work.
  5. Choose how to build your small business website from the table above and set up the page.
  6. Add the WhatsApp button and request form, then send a test request from a friend's phone.
  7. Create or claim your Google Business Profile, set the category and service areas, and add your page link.
  8. Put the link everywhere: WhatsApp Business profile, Facebook page, Instagram bio, invoices and the sticker on your van.
  9. Reply within the hour during working hours. Speed is the cheapest conversion tool you have.
  10. Review monthly: which service gets requests, which area, which question repeats. Update the page.

Once requests arrive, the next job is turning them into repeat work. Our guide to getting service customers to come back covers the follow-up side.

Small business website mistakes that waste the effort

  • Hiding prices completely. You get the same "how much?" message forever. A "starting from" line filters out wrong-fit customers.
  • A slow, heavy page. Huge photos and sliders hurt on mobile data. One fast page beats five slow ones.
  • No phone number in text. Some customers want to copy it, not tap a button.
  • The domain in someone else's name. Ask for it in writing before you pay.
  • Copy-pasted text. Generic paragraphs about "quality and excellence" do not answer anything. Write how you actually work.
  • Launching and forgetting. Old prices and a closed branch on the page lose trust fast.
  • Relying only on marketplaces. They bring first jobs, but read when marketplace commission hurts margin before you build your whole business on them.

How Alwaseet does this

Alwaseet is an Egypt-first booking marketplace where customers discover services, compare options, message providers and book verified providers. Its categories include home maintenance, cleaning services, medical and health, beauty and spa, education and tutoring, and consulting, in Arabic and English.

For providers, the "List your business" flow gives you a public page on your own Alwaseet subdomain (yourname.alwaseet.co). You add your services and packages, customer reviews, a floating WhatsApp chat button and a request form, and you can connect a custom domain when you are ready. Requests from the page land in one inbox, so you are not hunting through chats. If you are comparing booking tools specifically, see our service provider booking app guide.

FAQ

Do I need a website if my Facebook page already works? If the page brings enough work, keep it. A small business website adds a place you control, a link that works for people who are not on social media, and a page Google can show for local searches. Most providers run both and link them to each other.

How much does a small business website cost in Egypt? It depends on the route. A freelancer charges a one-time project fee plus domain and hosting renewals, while builders and ready platforms charge a monthly or yearly plan. Get at least two written quotes and check who owns the domain before comparing numbers.

Should I show prices on my service website? Show a "starting from" price or a range for each main service. It saves you repeated questions and sets expectations before the visit. Explain what changes the final price, such as area size or parts.

How long until Google shows my new site? Google's own starter guide says some changes take effect in a few hours and others take months. Expect to wait a few weeks before judging. A complete Google Business Profile with reviews usually helps local visibility sooner than the site alone.

I go to my customers' homes. Can I still use Google Business Profile? Yes. Google lets service-area businesses remove their address and set service areas by city or postal code. You can list up to 20 areas, within about two hours' drive of your base.

What is the single most important part of the page? The contact path. A visible WhatsApp button, a phone number in text and a short request form. Everything else exists to get the customer to press one of them.
